Igor Gontcharov holds a Ph.D. in Law from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University, where he has had been a Senior Fellow at the Critical Research Laboratory in Law & Society, and received his LL.M.
Igor’s Doctoral Dissertation is titled Mandated Ethics: The Limits of Regulatory Innovation in Research Involving Humans.
He received his BA (Hons.) degree in sociology from Novosibirsk State University, and subsequently studied in the fields of socio-political and socio-legal theories and continental philosophy. He has published articles on the issues related to science policy, standard setting, regulation and governance, sociology of law, and ethics.
He has also been a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University School of Law in New York City, and taught at OCAD University.
